Here is my song for day 2 of The Haykel Twins 7 day song challenge!

This song came through me today because of a reaction that I had towards my Mom from a triggered place.

I noticed that I was feeling ‘bad’ about it and having trouble forgiving myself for reacting the way that I did.

I’m always curious about when I or others feel ‘bad’ about something.. it feels so old, it feels abusive and it seems to create a block to self love and forgiveness.

I was able to take responsibility for my actions, speak about the part that triggered me the most (which taps into a very old and outdated belief about not being important or cared for by others) and we, as a family, were able to create a space of love around it fairly quickly.

Then, as I was recording this song later in the evening, my teenage daughter was trying to sleep and called me towards the end of the recording to ask me to stop singing… guess what happened?! I felt ‘bad’ again.. So I sat with that for a few minutes, reminded myself of the love inside and all around me, and allowed myself to feel tender about everything that was triggered by this experience.

What do you do when you notice that you’re feeling ‘bad’ about something?

How do you take responsibility and claim your power in the midst of this type of energy or experience?

Please let me know in the comments below!

Giving sooo much thanks for the opportunity to share with you here! And… I cannot WAIT to share my first ever solo recording project with you this spring! I’m currently working on a 6 song EP and it’s massive!!! *Stay tuned*

How is what I'm longing for an indication of what I've already got?

Life is giving me many opportunities to ‘practice what I preach’ so to say, by showing up in the face of adversity, challenges and discomfort in new ways. One of the things that’s been present for me is the experience of wanting more than I’ve got, wanting what others have or desiring things to be different in order to suit a vision that I’ve had for myself, for my life.  The question I find I’m asking myself is this: Where is the balance between giving thanks for and acknowledging what I’ve got, have accomplished, experienced etc. and the desire to have more or better than what I currently have? This is a powerful question, one that’s come up recently for me with regards to a personal relationship that I’ve been engaging with over the last year.  You see, I’ve always imagined the type of man that I believe I’m ‘meant’ to be with.  He’s flawless, really; successful, good looking, doesn’t need me but so truly desires and apprecialoves me, loves me through and through, he’s patient, wise, empowered, confident, brilliant, loving, thoughtful, worldly, wealthy.. the list goes on and on. What life has presented me with instead, are opportunities to … Continue reading

Self Responsibility: no blame-no shame. Who do I need to be to create a new experience?

self responsibility… taking one tiny step, acknowledging one shift, one choice, one balance or imbalance, to co~create an experience, whether enjoyable or deeply uncomfortable.we all, in each moment, have a choice in how we show up, who we ‘be’ and what we say, how we react or how we hold and contain the part of us that wants to react.. from that old place, causing chaos instead of cohesion we all have a choice a choice to choose which path we will step on in any given moment a choice of the thoughts that pass through our minds which create vibrations sent out through the wavelengths which in turn co~create either harmony & peace, discord & dis-ease or something in between i’ve found it difficult in certain situations to be clear as to where my responsibility lay.   Here are some of the questions I ask myself to further overstand how I can take responsibility:at what point did I become triggered?how did I show up?who was I being? what is the reflection here? why am I feeling triggered by this?what part did I play in co~creating a situation that creates separation instead of connection? for so many years it seemed … Continue reading
