Focus & Contentment ~ My New Huffington Post Blog!

In 2015, I’m choosing to focus on one thing at a time, let go of what’s no longer energizing me, and be more present in the here and the now.  This means embracing the present moment, and focusing on what is truly important and giving energy to my life! I talk about this in my latest blog for the Huffington Post entitled “Focus, Contentment, and How I’m Choosing to Be Here Now.” Letting go and learning to focus on one thing at a time can be a challenging, life-long journey. Believe me, I know this first hand, and I trust sharing my experiences will empower you to share yours. Do you struggle with focus or contentment?  Has something specific helped you remain present and “in the moment?” I would love to hear your thoughts! Share them in the comments section below. And if you missed them, here are my past Huffington Post blogs where I talk about kicking resistance in the ass and finding the power to keep going in 2014. Give thanks for all of your support and for sharing this amazing journey with me! I look forward to reading and responding to your comments 🙂 Blessings, … Continue reading

Want to create less anxiety and more positivity in your life?

Let me begin by taking a moment to celebrate this year… 2014 has been highly challenging, magical, synchronistic and heart and mind blowing in so many ways. This year Life is requiring me to step up and stretch in ways I’ve never stretched before. It’s been intense, awesomely amazing and a little bit of everything else! Can you relate?!! I’m so thankful that I’ve been filling my bucket with simple tools that I can use in challenging times, which remind me moment to moment to trust and surrender to the Divine Universal Flow. When I remember to use these tools (sometimes I conveniently forget), it’s truly amazing to be able to tap into a source of support, energy, and love that’s always here, and to acknowledge and trust my own divine knowing. I recorded this vlog to share a challenge I’ve been experiencing this summer, which I believe many of you can relate to. I’ve been struggling with ideas, feelings, perceptions, and anxiety around my physical appearance, which has directly affected my own self worth. Check out the video below to hear my story and how I’m moving from anxious to ACTIVATED, worried to ALIGNED and powerless to EMPOWERED! You know I LOVE to hear from … Continue reading

What the critics are saying about ‘I AM’

It’s totally over-the-top exciting to be connecting with my community through my music!!! Putting ‘I AM’ out there is showing people dimensions of my being they might not have been aware of and giving me momentum to share even more of myself with the world in a truly empowered and expansive way. My CD release party last week was an absolute success and has performers and audience alike just buzzing with good vibes and inspiring energy. How does it get any better?! Oh, it does…. !!! It’s been SUCH an honor to be featured in two local newspapers and have ‘I AM’ praised by highly respected music critics. I invite you to check out the reviews! Jeff Miers of The Buffalo News writes, ‘Laura Aiisha’s EP ‘I Am’ is packed with messages of positivity and empowerment, its combination of reggae, world-beat, R&B, soul and dance music offering the properly ebullient accompaniment to Haykel’s sensuous, soulful singing. Coupled with Haykel’s assertively optimistic lyrics, a viscerally uplifting atmosphere ensues.’ Read the rest of his review HERE. Frank de Blase, the ahhmazing music critic at the Rochester City Newspaper writes, ‘With her exquisitely smooth alto, Laura Aiisha balances secular accessibility with an irresistible … Continue reading

How I kicked resistance in the ass and launched my first solo CD!

WoweeeeWOW!!! Life is stretching me wide open & amazing me on the daily. It is dynamic, ever-changing, evolving, speaking to and through me in whispers and shouts, and showing me the way through subtle signs, soul-crushing doubt, and the guidance of others (strangers, family, friends, soul mates, teachers, clients… ). I have been given multiple opportunities to embrace life in all of its wild discomfort, in its resistance strong like a bulldozer ready to take me down. The burst of spring blossoming all around me reminds me that as dark as things can seem in my inner being, there are always new life seeds beneath the earth’s surface, sprouting, stretching, expanding beyond their core, their hard shell, taking that risk, that leap, choosing YES! I said “yes” to an opportunity to attend one of the most unique conferences for entrepreneurs in Fargo, ND this past weekend for the Misfits of the world. I said “yes” in 2013.. and as the date approached I felt major… I’m talkin’ MAJOR resistance here. There was no schedule, I had no idea who the speakers would be, I didn’t know anyone attending. I almost threw in the towel, gave up my ticket, turned my head … Continue reading

Get Up & Get Out of Your Way Process

I want to share with you my Get Up & Get Out of Your Way Process. This is a super-powerful tool I’ve been using with myself and with groups of people as well as with my own clients, and I want to give you an opportunity to use this process too! And I have a very special gift at the end of this post for you!!! Here’s a quick strategy to help you get out of your own way by stepping into mindfulness awareness when you start to sink into old undesirable thoughts, patterns and behaviors… In plain English: when you get TRIGGERED and react in ways that don’t serve you or anyone else! 1. First of all… Awareness is key!  We cannot begin changing our behavior if we’re not aware of what we’re doing and how we impact the world around us.  So, I invite you to Start to bring awareness to your thoughts, what’s triggering you, your actions and reactions.  That’s it.. just start to notice how you be and who you be! 2. Then, Begin to notice what you’re focusing on… Are you focused on what’s not working? or are you focused on what’s working? Are you … Continue reading
