Are you standing in your own way?

I’m curious about something… Are you standing in your own way?

Sometimes the biggest thing getting in the way of us taking a chance on our dreams or goals is ourselves. I have had this experience several times. From getting the courage to sing and share my voice in front of an audience, to reinvesting my resources for life changing personal development and entrepreneurial training programs (as a single Mom fully responsible for supporting my family), trust me, I’ve been there.

Putting yourself out there can be scary.  I can remember those feelings of apprehension taking over my mind and body as I considered what it would be like to step out on a stage and sing from a mic for all to hear my voice.

Stepping forward fully into your dreams can be nerve wreaking, but over and over again I have found that it is TOTALLY worth it.  Most of what I’ve accomplished to date has been a combination of having people around me who believe in and support me and a belief (deep down inside) in my unique gifts and talents.

Stepping forward in the face of fear and just going for it has given me a wealth of confidence in myself as a result.

Check out my latest vlog where I talk about how I handled these situations and how it’s changed my life. You will also get to hear my song, ‘Get Up’ AND hear about the super awesome FREE GIFT that i’m sharing with you!

I would love to hear your story and how you overcame doubts and fears to bring one of your dreams into reality.  Please leave a comment below!

And… if you like this post, please share it online via your socia networks on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn…

Give thanks!!!

  1. Peace, Laura….

Having lived for more than 6 decades, I have forced myself to get up and get out of my own way, many times. Having taken several “leaps of faith” has taught me that “scary” can be a good thing. Overcoming “scary” has always led me to new learning, new energy, and new knowledge of my value to myself, my family, and my community. Divorce was scary but living in a violent situation was scarier. Committing myself to community theatre was scary but now I know, I’m pretty darned good and I need not fear being judged. Starting a new career, after almost 25 years in career #1, was scary, but remaining in a career that no longer fed my soul, was scarier. Deciding to create an organization that would promote prisoner justice, with my limited knowledge, was scary but, walking away from people being dehumanized was scarier. I had a moral and ethical responsibility to uphold…and I did. People sometimes ask why I do what I do for prisoners and their families and formerly incarcerated people. I respond by saying that I do whatever I can for ALL of my brothers and sisters.

Mother Theresa said, “If there is no peace, that is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.
